As a system operator are you sure that your metering maintenance procedures follow the latest "best practice"? Are you checking all the elements that make up the system and that could to contribute error? Are you doing enough to maintain overall metering system uncertainty? Do have the appropriate test equipment for the job?

We have come across operators who did not actually have any specific metering maintenance procedures, and were just using normal plant instrumentation calibration methods and test equipment. This approach is unlikely to maintain the system within its design uncertainty.
